Here are 5 queer songs that I think you should add to your playlists this February. Fair warning: not all of these songs are new, but they are all AMAZING QUEER GOODNESS and if you haven’t heard them yet, you can email me and thank me later.
1. Brandi Carlile’s “Dreams.” Hear me out. Brandi released her latest album “Returning to Myself” in October 2025, but having just performed a wonderful rendition of “America the Beautiful” at Superbowl LX, she is on my February radar! I would recommend a song off her album “Returning to Myself,” but my absolute favorite Brandi Carlile song of all time is “Dreams” off the album “Give up the Ghost.” I distinctly remember the lyrics to this song being the barrier to entry for the queer interest club in college in the early 2000s. Just kidding. It was popular, though.
2. Tyler, the Creator has been buzzing on TikTok since last year with “Sugar on My Tongue.” I actually have not stopped playing this song since it’s viral TikTok moment, so it inevitably made it on this list!
3. SPELL IT OUT by Lauren Sanderson. Lauren will be releasing a new album on May 29th and this is the second single from it to be released. It is smart, sexy, and hot! I think it should be added to the naughty sapphic canon of songs.
4. Sam Smith’s “Unholy” recorded at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. Yes, I know–this song has had its moment. But has it had this treatment like this? Have you run to the streaming services to check out what I’m talking about? Did you listen to this version for Valentine’s Day?
5. Wet Leg’s “mangetout.” Okay, okay. I am late to this album and I am ashamed. I have heard about the genius of Wet Leg’s for some time, but have simply sat on the sidelines and missed out. I am happy to report that I have changed for the better as of the beginning of 2026 and I am obsessed with “mangetout.” This is a great starting point for me and I am about to delve into the full catalog. Yes, I know I’m a dweeb.
