Songs Bringing Me Queer Joy Right Now Part II

Queer joy is about feeling good in your skin. Here is a list of songs I’ve been jamming to lately that have me feeling divine unto my own and that are bringing me queer joy. Let me know what you think of my choices!

“Skin Cleared” by Askhnikko–She’s about to start a tour, friends, to support her latest album Smoochies. This is one of the standout songs on this album–a catchy, empowering, fun bop that makes you want to get up and both dance and stick it to your ex at the same time. Not a bad combination. Lots of queer empowerment and joy.

“Somewhere over the Rainbow” by Sam Smith–Y’all. When I heard this recording I got genuine chills. I just happened across this album of Sam’s–this work of his at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and I was floored. This is beautiful. This is queer. This is a masterpiece.

“Baby, I’m a Winner” by G Flip–You have to know I’m a dream ride or die G Flip fan (do you see what I did there?). This song reaches down my esophagus, into my chest, and actually grabs my heart. “Baby, I’m a winner, but I’d lose for you.” May we all find that type of love, because we all deserve it.

“Diet Pepsi” by Ben Platt–I know this came out a while ago, but because of this version, I now have to listen to every version. It’s pure queer magic. I just can’t let it go. No explanation needed here. It’s an instant classic! Also check out Blondshell’s version, I suppose.

“Lewps” by Charlie Houston–I mean hell yeah. This is my jam. I found this artist on TikTok and I’m that kind of smitten. Eagerly waiting for them to tour the USA and was told personally that could be a thing one day. Insert googly eyes.

It’s a dang great list, right? Do you have any recommendations for me? Let me know in the comments!
